Canada:
We
currently do NOT allow travel into Canada.
RVs
need 13-1/2 feet minimum clearance. We strongly advise not driving under any
structure less than this.
Use of an RV-GPS is strongly recommended.
You
must be free of COVID-19 or any Influenza-like symptoms in order to rent the
RV.
Driving Lesson:
You
are not renting a car. For insurance reasons, we give you a short driving
lesson in the RV.
The
only times we waive the driving lesson is when:
(1)
We are dropping off to a campsite or a horse show, or
(2)
You hold a current Class-A or Class-B Commercial Driver's License.
Drop off and Pick Up:
Renter(s) should
expect to personally pick up & drop off the RV, although we offer to drop
off and pick up the RV for a fee, if you are within a 50-mile radius of us. If
you would like us to deliver and/or pick up the RV, just ask and we will try to
accommodate you.
During
the months of December through mid-March, the RVs have been winterized. This means that the water has been drained,
and the pipes and tubing have been filled with anti-freeze. There is no running
water available. However, we make the
sinks and the toilet available to you by filling the gray and black holding
tanks with antifreeze just before pickup.
Most campsites will
have at least one dump station open during the middle of Winter.
Please make use of
it just before you leave the campsite.
The
gas tank is filled at time of pickup, and is expected to be returned to us full
of gas. If the gas tank is not full upon return, your security deposit
will be charged for the amount needed to fill the tank plus a $2/gallon
surcharge.
Generator:
Three
(3) hours of generator use are free with each rental day. This is cumulative. Additional generator use is charged at $5.00
per hour. Be careful not to run both the microwave oven and the heat or A/C at
the same time when using the generator, or you may pop a breaker. Switch heat or A/C to “fan” mode first.
The
generator will also shut itself down when: (1) the gas tank is 1/4 full or
less, or (2) there is not enough oil in the generator reservoir.
If
you use a GPS device, make sure it is in Bus/Truck mode. Otherwise you will
need to exercise good judgment and sometimes override the GPS, as it may send
you down roads and parkways where an RV does not belong. Examples include Storrow Drive in Boston or
the Merritt and Hutchinson Parkways in Connecticut and New York.
Be
sure you turn off the hot water heater before driving, as this is a fire
hazard.
A
special license is NOT REQUIRED to rent this RV. We will give you a short driving lesson if you
are not a professional driver with a CDL and have not driven motorhomes before.
Ø We
accept the following credit cards: Visa,
MasterCard, and American Express.
Ø Venmo
or Zelle or PayPal (within 3 business days of pickup)
Ø
Personal Check (at least 10 business days
ahead of pickup)
Ø
Cash or Tellers Check (Any amounts owing
at time of pickup must be paid in cash or Tellers
check.)
Mexico:
We
do NOT allow travel into Mexico.
Mileage:
The
first 100 miles per each rental day are free.
This is cumulative.
Additional
mileage is charged at $.55 cents per mile.
Minimum Rental Period:
Three
calendar days, regardless of the season.
For
example:
Picking
up the RV at 4pm Friday and returning it at 2pm Sunday counts as three calendar
days.
Not
permitted, except for designated camping areas.
We
do offer one-way rentals. You pay the
round-trip cost (days and mileage) plus a one-way airplane ticket to the city
closest to your destination so we can drive the RV home.
Pets:
We
generally do NOT
allow pets in our RVs, unless we give you written authorization. Then there will be a $200 per pet non-refundable
charge for taking pets with you in the RV without our permission.
A
“full tank of propane” means the gauge on the tank reads about 3/4 full.
75-80%
full is the point at which the amount of gas escaping from the tank’s overfill
protection valve equals the amount of gas being pumped into the tank.
See Why are propane tanks only filled to 80% ?
If you need additional propane, be sure everyone is out of the
RV and the refrigerator is
turned off before allowing a propane service technician to fill
the tank.
You
are not expected to return the propane tank “full”.
You
need to be on moderately level ground for the refrigerator to work
properly.
Using
levelling jacks ensures the refrigerator will work properly.
Most
RV refrigerators can automatically switch between propane and an electrical
source (shore line power or generator.)
The
refrigerator needs to be turned off when refueling the gas tank as the LP gas
pilot is in close proximity to the fuel tank cover.
Rental
Rates are subject to change. We do our
best to make sure the latest rates are posted on this website.
Reservation Deposit:
50%
of the total rental price, which is applied toward the rental balance. This
deposit is non-refundable. There are no
refunds of your deposit should you decide to cancel the reservation.
We
will however, allow you to reschedule your reservation up to one year from the
date of the original reservation.
There
are two exceptions where we will return your deposit in full:
1. An
exception is granted if your destination site is closed due to COVID-19.
2. Should
events beyond our control cause the RV you wanted to rent become unavailable
during the times you wanted to rent it, and we cannot locate an equivalent RV
for you to rent.
We
reserve the right to substitute an equivalent RV.
In
most cases, $1,000 for less than one week, and $1,500 for one week or
more. Or $500 if we deliver to you and
it is not driven. The security deposit
will be refunded (minus any damage not covered by insurance, any unpaid
parking/traffic fines, toll violations, dumping, cleaning, additional mileage,
gas, missing equipment, other amounts owing), by check, within 10 business days
after return of the RV. We may use your
deposit to pay any amounts owed to us under this Agreement. Security deposit refunds are normally
processed on Sunday evenings.
Smoking:
We
do NOT allow smoking in our RVs.
Stocking, Setup and Training:
$100.00
fee, includes providing full tanks of gas, propane (a 3/4 full propane tank is
considered full -- See Propane above) and water in the holding tank and
sanitation chemicals. We also make sure
that the vehicle has been cleaned and washed and the holding tanks have been
dumped. In addition, we provide you with
a small toolbox as well as hoses,
connectors, and adapters. We also give
you a 1-hour
orientation on how to use the RV, including a brief driving
lesson. You will need to provide your own sheets,
linens, and towels and utensils.
Towing:
Towing
another vehicle or trailer is not allowed.
For
all intents and purposes, you are driving a medium-sized bus.
RV
Drivers need to follow all Truck/Bus lane
restrictions, as well as avoid driving on any road designated as a Parkway, or
any road with low bridges or overpasses, or through a tunnel.
RVs
are usually not allowed in tunnels, because of the LP gas tank. Renters need to be aware that this
prohibition is strictly enforced in and around Boston, New York City, and
Baltimore. The Chesapeake Bay-Bridge
Tunnel allows you to travel through it provided you shut off your propane tank
first.
Water
in the fresh water holding tank should never be considered potable. Consider using it to shower, wash dishes and
flush the toilet. Bring bottled water
(and/or other beverages) to drink.
